weird weather

When I took these photos, it was raining pretty good, big drops and lots of them. Not your usually 'sunny' afternoon weather the end of August. We woke up around 3:00 A.M. to terrific thunder and lightening. Except for the clouds, that was taken when the rain slowed. Each photo I was getting drenched in the rain. I am still not sure where the storm came from, except they say the south and monsoonal style storm. It was not predicted last night on the news. It was a surprise to everyone.

It wouldn't be so bad except that it is hot and muggy. And not good for the grapes, the farmers will cry on the news tonight.

Eclipse

I woke up around 1:45 am and went outside to see the eclipse. It was just beginning so I went to bed for about 15 more minutes. I got up again and went outside and lay on the grass. Snapping pictures every so often. My camera isn't designed for this type of photography, but it didn't do to bad. Plus, Kitty Boy (out outside kitty) enjoyed my company for the next hour or so.

Reminds me of a time when we lived at Sunset Beach, Rochelle, Eric and I took our blanket outside around midnight to watch an eclipse of the moon. I still have those photos.

I survived the 1st week

Well, the first week of class has come and gone and I am still living on planet earth. (I have not been creative enough to do any blogging all week, just tired) Michelle (my aide) saw this photo in a curriculum magazine I had and we decided to cluster our class birthdays around a monthly bee hive. This is my birthday board. And at Open House on Thursday night, the parents went over to find their child's birthday.
I am always looking for creative ways to get parents to read my information board. So I decided to do a Bambi theme. It does get their attention. I do need to make a new Bambi on a little larger scale, he doesn't quite measure up to Thumper and Flower ~ so I will do that this weekend. I made Bambi in early July, and the others last Sunday. I should have looked at Bambi before I drew the others, and then could have made another and bigger Bambi.
Currently I have 9 boys and 14 girls with room for just one more child to enter my class. I was told by a 2/3 grade teacher (whose child I had in my class for 2 years) about a former parent of mine who went down to sign her child up. I haven't got any more info on that yet. But, 10 boys sounds better. My class is more even then last year (18 boys and 6 girls).

With Elizabeth at Lake Tahoe, Keith working tomorrow and Dan working tomorrow I will have some time to myself. I am planning on going to my consultants for some scrapbooking. But right now, I think I should go do the dishes.

We will be taking Elizabeth to San Fran. on Thursday. I have already gotten the time off and have a sub for my class.

Photos

For anyone who checks out my photo website, well Yahoo has transfered them to Shutterfly, I wanted Snapfish but checked the wrong button. Anyway, when I figure out how to share I will do that again. In the meantime, as I figure it out, I have some photos on Picasa, so click on that link on my blog.

Other news, I have been really busy getting my class ready for school to start on Monday. I will have an open house on Sat. from 9-10 a.m. for the parents. I will also have admissions agreements, emergency cards, volunteer forms to hand out and get signed. I have 14 girls and 9 boys this year ~ with room for only 1 more. I will go to the office this afternoon and check on any stragglers signing up ( I am hoping for another boy).

In the meantime, Keith will be home soon and we need to go to the college and get his books and pay for 1 more class he added. So I should go clean up.

Come & gone

Eric came down for a week's vacation. He worked on his car among other things. You can see he (& dad) loaded the car on the trailer...........
And, Eric went home, with car in tow.
But, his kitties stayed. They will be here at least a month.
So far they have not missed him, but tomorrow is another day.

God put me on earth to accomplish a certain number of things...
Right now I am so far behind I will never die.

Last hurrah!

I start back tomorrow (Thursday), so today was our last hurrah! Eric is here, and has not been out on the boat ~ so we went today. Keith took his girlfriend to Big Sur yesterday, and had today off. That had something to do with going today. She was invited, but has never been boating and thought she would be to tired. Our new tube arrived yesterday, so today it was tried out. Keith
Eric
A young eagle we saw (I saw 2) that was perched on a rock near where we stopped to eat.
Ryan & Elizabeth.

Even I went out in the tube, but alas, no photos. My camera battery died, but ................
We had fun.

More kitties

Eric came last night, and his kitties also. Jojo gets carsick an poops on herself, so after her bath my bathroom stank, thus I was cleaning the bathroom last night. Otherwise all is well.
Eric has lost 25 pounds and is very determined on his diet.

Keith went to Big Sur today (with his girlfriend, Summer) and tomorrow we are going boating. The new inner tube for behind the boat arrived today. And due to what dad was saying to Eric (they were arguing), I have now taken my name off my eBay (put dad's on) and will use another account. Now he can do his neutral and negative feed backs. The auction ended and he paid for the tube on July 20th, (18 days ago) and is extremely upset at how long it took for delivery, and the fact the person he bought it from did not communicate or answer dad's email questions about delivery (it was in Placerville). Dad has a real addiction to eBay.

Elizabeth has her finals this week, she is taking photos today. Her photos are due Friday, and that is the night of her birthday party. AND on Saturday, we will be going out to dinner for her birthday.

Otherwise life goes on. I have my orientation on Thurs. and it's all day. Get my keys on Friday and will start setting up my room on Monday. I will have dad go with me with his little dolly so we can move cabinets, etc.

Have a good flight and a good visit.
Love to all

Lots to do

For Brandon. Not the best of photography. An airplane like we were on, taken through the window. The Denver airport terminal as we were taxing down the runway.

Eric is coming Sunday evening, for a week, and he is bringing his kitties also. He will leave them here about a month, at least until he gets his swamp cooler working again. He lives in a mobile home on top of a hill, and those things get really hot in the summer and he is worried about his kitties. Next Friday Elizabeth will have a birthday party (she turns 21 on Saturday), and then on Saturday we will go out to dinner. She wants a strawberry dagari (sp???), anyway she will be legally 21 and so it goes.
