Silk worms

One cocoon has been sprung and we have a silk moth. I will take in my camera tomorrow and take a picture. The children were so excited.

We are preparing for the end of the year ceremony next Wed. at 9:00. The children choose 2 of the songs, so they are singing "Four Hugs a Day", "Octopus" (they call it slippery fish), "I Am a Pizza" and "Dicky, Dicky Dinosaur" they will then get their certificates and do the "Tooty Ta' with their parents. It should be a fun day. I am sooooooooooooo looking to next Friday, the last day of class.! YEAH!

Going outside.

The cats spend a lot of time at the front door looking outside and "dreaming." So we thought we'd give them a day out. Of course the first thing they do is run to the bushes and hide, except Chloe. We let them play for around 10 - 15 minutes. They have been much quieter in the house today, but then it is a little hotter today and they are a little more lethargic when it gets warmer, and it's only 83.8 right now.

Baby shower.

Elizabeth and I went to a baby shower today, our former youth pastor's wife, Christi. She is due in 5 weeks. She had her daughter Alison, who will be 3 in 2 months. A friend of her's was also there with her 2 1/2 year old. The girls ran around and around the center of the house, through the kitchen, dining, living, foyer, and formal dining room back to the kitchen, going up 2 steps and down 2 steps. It made me think of Caitlin, she'd be doing that if she had been in the same situation. I chuckled about it and remembered that Caitlin is 16 months today. Happy 16th month birthday Caitlin, we love you.

Cocooning time

The silk worms are getting quite large now and one has spun it's cocoon, and the pupa forms inside. It will stay that way for about 2 weeks before the moth comes out.

The cocoon is spun from one continuous strand of silk about 1/2 mile long. It was quite exciting for the children this morning to see the cocoon, they didn't want to start the morning, but we did. We spent a lot of time discussing the process.

Final's over. Yeah!

I had my final last night, and it is finally over. The hours the days, just the time that class took!Yeah! I will admit that even though it was a class I didn't want to take, I needed it for professional growth, the instructor made it very interesting. (Diversity class) I will now go down and renew my credential. Yeah, all done! Now I can get back to what I do daily, like clean house, sleep, normal stuff....!!!
We will have our last Bible Study next Sunday, and it will be a pot luck, so I will plan that. I will kinda miss going to Bible Study over the summer.

Give my little one's in Colorado a hug and kiss and I love you ! from me.

Jeremiah's home

Saw Jeremiah last night, he came by with Keith - they were going out with a couple other friends. I did have to go out to see him, it was late and I should have been in bed. It was good to see him, and that he survived his 7 month stint in Iraq, said he is all there, all his toes and fingers, etc. We talked about that a little and some other stuff. He and Laura are getting married next March 2nd,(I believe that is what he said), so I can put that on my calendar.

Next door

These horses are in field next to our play yard at school. The owners say they are friendly and like carrots and apples. The children bring carrots to school to give to the horses. When the kids are outside the mare comes to the fence, the stallion stays in the field and comes later, thusly (is it a word?) she gets more carrots and apples then he does. If the children don't have anything for the horses I can trim the trees in the yard, but I can only trim so much. If the kids don't have anything for the horses she snorts at them. It is kinda funny.
Today we went on a field trip to Chevy's restaurant and it was really fun. The children got to go into the kitchen and see what they do and then into the walk in refrig. and they said it was really cold. They got to see the tortilla maker make a tortilla, that was fun. In the end each child received a burrito, french fries and some water to drink. It was fun, I think we'll go again next year. Of course part of the highlight is riding a big yellow school bus!!

Sad day

Today is a sad day. Usually when I get to work, I set my bags down and go talk to Misty my hamster and give her a treat. This morning she didn't respond. I saw her eye peeking from under her blanket, and when I lifted it off I saw that she had died during the night. She was under her blanket and curled in her bed. Hamsters only live around 2 years, she was around 20 months. I had noticed the last few weeks that she wasn't looking good. Yesterday I thought she was looking better. She still was eating and moving about in her cage. I guess old age just caught up with her a little early. We sat at circle time and talked about it with the children. They started pictures and we'll add their words, to make a "book" for Misty.
The bright side of today was when the firetruck with the firemen came. And the captain is a woman. The children sure enjoyed seeing it, talking with the firemen and getting to go inside the firetruck.
( you can see Michelle arranging the children for the picture.)

How they've grown!

The little tiny silk worms have grown and are getting alot bigger. I have to give them lots of fresh mulberry leaves everyday for survival, and a bouquet of leaves over the weekends. I think they will have eaten all the leaves by morning and will be very hungry. They lift up when I put a new leaf in, they must have a very keen sense of smell.
