Monterey

We got up early Friday and went to Monterey and the aquarium. Elizabeth had school work to finish, so she didn't go, and I am sorry she didn't get to go she would have enjoyed herself. Keith, dad and I took the girls. I am glad Keith went- the girls enjoy being around him and Elizabeth.
This is the first time we saw a feeding, as many times as we have been there. It looks like she is cheering the diver on.We spent about 3 1/2 hours at the aquarium. The last time I was there was Jan. 2003, and there have been alot of changes and add on's. It really was fun, and the girls had a blast. After we left we went to Carl's Jr. for lunch. I hate the commercials - they are just dirty minded - and usually will not eat there except when we are out of town.
After lunch we headed to the beach, and spend a couple hours there exploring and playing in the sand. It was a great day, except for the traffic delay in Madera on the way home. That was horrible. They are doing road work at night and with all the truckers on the road at night, narrowing 2 lanes into 1 lane really caused a huge traffic delay.

Boating

Thursday we took the girls and went boating. Keith was asking for a bite of something before he got in the boat. Keith and Elizabeth both did some single skiing and kneeboarding. I think they have it posted on their myspace accounts.
Mariah did the inner tube, and thought it was fun. Samara wasn't sure if she enjoyed the inner tube but she did enjoy swimming. Everyone had fun.

San Louis Reservoir

As you can see, the reservoir is slightly low.

Today's adventure

We went to San Francisco today to pick up Mariah and Samara from the airport. They will be here until July 9th, when they fly back. Their flight left Erie, PA. at 6:00 this morning, which is 3:30 our time. They suffered a little jet lag and slept a little on the way home.

Shaver Lake

We were invited to go boating today, at Shaver Lake, with some friends of ours. Hiliarys grandpa, brothers Joshua and Andrew, and us (Me, dad & Elizabeth -Keith went to Monterey with some friends). The boat belongs to Harry, who will be 80 in July. You see him in the photo with twin grandsons Josh and Andrews.
Yep it's Elizabeth. We left at 7:00 a.m. and it was still a little cool when we got there around 8:30 so she still has her sweatshirt on.
That is Elizabeth and Andrew somewhere in the water as the tube flew through the air and they got thrown out.
Harry tried to dump them again, but this time the tube went on it's side and they stayed in. I couldn't get a picture fast enough.
It was fun day and I am tired and have sunburned face.

Yard Sale!

As you can see, we had everything laid out rather nicely. We sold about 30 worth of stuff. Keith made the most money he made $13.00.
I made $9.00, Dad $5.00, Elizabeth $2.00, Ryan $2.00. (his stuff is not in this photo, he came about 30 min. later)
Except for a rainy day, the worst yard sale I have ever had. Most of the things (not Ryan's) will be picked up on Tuesday by the Disabled Veterans for their thrift store. We kept hold of the books, Elizabeths things, the potty seat. We are going to have another one next month. I still have some closets to sort and some cupboards. Maybe even we will get to storage and take some of that stuff out.

Stars in a row

I went outside tonight to lock the cars and when I looked at the moon I noticed 3 stars and the moon all in a row. The photo doesn't do justice to what I saw. It was really neat. A better camera would probably have caught the essence of the scene. Star light star bright...............

Fun day

We decided to go boating today. Made and took some lunch and snacks and headed out to Millerton. Behind this spray of water is Keith. It has been 3 years since we have had a boat decent enough for skiing and thus no one has skied in 3 years. Keith tried to single but was unable to stay up. He will try again next time we take the boat out.
Keith did get up on doubles and skied for a ways.
Ryan with his sun glass, kinda funky. He was having fun with them.
Ryan on doubles. He hasn't skied before. He did pretty good. He tried a single ~ later, but was unable to get up (his muscles were tired) but I am sure he will get up ~ probably next time or shortly after.

Then it was Elizabeth's turn and she did just fine on a single.
We headed home around 3:00 before it got up to 103 today. The water was refreshing and the boat ride was nice. We went up the river, Ryan had never been there before and we have many, many times.. I will post some of those pictures on Picasa, when I figure it out (again).

Somedays are like this

This is the way my house seems more and more. Elizabeth going away in the fall, she's not home much anyway. Keith usually comes home and then goes out. We are planning a day on the lake tomorrow. Dad, Keith, Elizabeth (I think) and myself. Keith has Thursday and Friday off, Elizabeth still needs to get a job. I am in the process of getting food for lunch and cleaning up my kitchen and am still putting away scrapbooking stuff and tupperware. Sure is taking longer then I expected.
Tesse went home with Eric a couple weeks ago, but this picture shows how I feel somedays. It was 100 today and suppose to be 103 tomorrow. Getting wet sounds real good to me.

Strange going on's

I am home alone, and I come into the front room, there is music coming from the room. How did the music get turned on - strange beings in my house? About an hour or so later I see that the tape player has an open door - again strange. I do not believe in monsters or lose spirits in my house, I really suspect the cat because he is always sitting on top of the music box. Lo and behold later that day we catch him in action. As he sleeps his paw dangles over the buttons that turn on the music and open the tape door, as you can see. He was really in a deep sleep.
I came back from Costco and decided to give the kitties a treat. Squirt is always playing with paper bags but the noise gets really anoying. So, having just purchased some new catnip I decided to have some fun. I put the catnip in the box I got from Costco - and shook it into the edges.
All the cats attacked the box but Jonah took control, he ripped the front of the box and shredded some of the cardboard, as you can see. He also babysat the box most of the day. The box is now in recycle.

So much for an exciting time. Now it is off the finish sorting my plastic food containers, some for the yard sale, some to keep.

Eric's new car

Eric just got a 1997 Pontiac, similar to the one you had, just newer. Hopefully it works out for him. It is the newest car he has ever owned, and one he does not need to fix to run. Yeah for Eric.

Grandpa's toy

Grandpa and his 1959 El Camino.
Grandpa and Uncle Eric in front of the car. They worked hard for the last 2 1/2 days and it won't run.
However, it will prevail and it will run.

It is getting close to being done mechanically. Still needs a lot of body work.

Frazzled!

I just spent half my day making reservations, etc. for Mariah and Samara to come out to visit in 2 weeks. Because they are minors I had to call airlines and find out policies for minors flying, etc. That was time consuming, they put you on hold forever (15 min.) before you hear a human voice. Anyway with that all done, I made the reservations through Delta, online ~ then I had to call back and give they information on WHO is dropping them off and WHO is picking them up. I am real pleased with their security but if I can made the reservations on line for minors, they they should supply the information to fill in, but then talking with real people makes me feel a little better. Anyway, it is all done. The girls will come out here June 25 and go home July 9th. They will fly into SFO, cheaper then Oakland.
SOOOOooooooooo, now on to other stuff. I am spending this week getting the house in order, and am doing a yard sale next Sat. It feels like a boarding house here at times. Elizabeth is gone until tomorrow, but Eric is here right now. I am getting my sewing machine out tonight, after Eric leaves so I can finish up Caitlin's summer outfits and get that in the mail. I am going to start on a pair of pj's for Brandon, and will bring them with me. Froggy top and black bottoms. I will take pictures to post later, right now I want to get some cupboards cleaned out so I can stash my scrapbooking stuff, out of sight.
Love to all

Saturday

I took the day off Saturday, and went to a scrapbooking workshop. My consultant holds one each month, and I try to go when I can. I got a lot done on and album I am doing for Gary of his girls.
When Keith got home around 4, he took off his shoes and socks and Chloe immediately went over and gave his shoe a hug and took a nap for at least an hour. We know that Jonah like smelly feet, toes in his ears and shoes and socks but this is new for Chloe, she's only been doing this for a few days.
Since our church has no pastor, he left in Dec. people have been bailing out. So we have gone to summer hours, one service at 10:00.

Another class over................

The balloons say it all! We had our ceremony on Wed., water play on Thur. and our fairwell brunch today. Got all cleaned and put up until August, turned in the attendance, keys, files, etc, and came home. ALL done for this school year. Now, after only 3 hours of sleep last night, I think I'll go to bed! The horses will miss the carrots and apples.

The other silk moth

Now that I have 2 silk moth's, I am hoping they will get together and lay some eggs.
There are still 6 cocoon's left to hatch. The one that was on the side of the container in the other post is now on the leaves, and the one in this photo on the side is the newest one. They kept fluttering their wings. Whick made it hard to get a clear picture.
They have no mouth, and only live for 2 weeks, long enough to lay eggs. They also do no fly, but they walk all around the container.

Cats and reincarnation

If reincarnation were a reality I would chose to come back as one of my cats.

Another silk moth.

Went into class today and another silk moth had emerged from the cocoon was exciting. I am going to place some cardboard strategically in the container and hope they are of opposit sexes and I will get some eggs. Then I can save them for next year. They really are fun to watch, they get so big and squissy looking.

Silk moth

One silkworm has made the cross over and metamorphosed into a silk moth. This particular one cocooned a week before the rest, so it is alone while the others are still inside their cocoons. The clear picture is inside the container, the blurry one is taken outside the container. The kids are really excited about seeing it. It is slightly smaller then the photograph.

Chloe is sitting on a box of my school stuff. I had to cover the box with a towel when I went to bed - because I have laminated papers and the cats will 'eat' laminated papers. I don't know what it is, must be the glue smells good or something. She will have to move soon as I need to finish my papers for class.
