Hot air balloons (again)

Got up early, again. There was no wind so we got dressed and drove down to the Rodeo grounds to see. And yes, there they were in all their glory.

They do the balloons once and year, and it is fun. This is only the 2nd time I have gone, and Dan went with me this morning. It is a small event, but fun anyway. A large gathering of hot air balloon enthusiasts would be even more fun.

Hot air balloons

I started out early this morning to go and see the hot air balloons take off from the Rodeo Grounds. This happens once a year in September, for the Septemberfest in Clovis. I am not usually willing to give up my Saturday morning sleep-in, but I did. Needless to say it was windy, so the balloons didn't go up. Looking at the 2 pictures of the balloons you can see the indentation of the wind on the balloons. However, I did get some nice photos of the sunrise. It was cold and windy so I was glad to go home and get warm. But tomorrows another day and I will go out again and see what happens. It's not suppose to be as windy, I hope not. Again because I have to give up much needed sleep.

TGIF!

I am so glad it is Friday, even though the weekend will be short I will get some rest. Keith left for Eric's today and will go to San Francisco tomorrow to visit with Elizabeth. We sent him up with his geo full of stuff for her. He will go to Eric's tonight and then to S.F tomorrow and back to Eric's tomorrow night and home Sunday evening.
SOoooooooooo........... we are going out to dinner tonight and a movie tomorrow night. But right now I am off to buy dog food. Kandy ended up with a peanut butter sandwich for dinner last night.

So much for my day

We took the cats out to play today. Jonah looks ready to pounce when he was actually just getting ready to run away, Chloe is in her element, Jade is just snooping (notice the tongue out), and then the boys are confering before they take off in opposite directions.

Happy Birthday Brandon

It's fixed

Car seems to run alright (which it did before) with the exception it isn't stall at stops. SO we will clean it up and put a for sale sign on, and on Craig's list. I will refresh myself driving a stick and use Elizabeth's car. It is more economical anyway!

If it's not one things, it's another

Ok, my car started giving me problems last summer. When one problem gets fixed another one pops up. Right now it's in the shop because it tends to stall when I stop at a stop light, sign, or slow down in a parking lot, but absolutly no problems when driving. The car is 10 years old, but it doesn't even have 100,000 miles on it yet. It is expensive to fix a cadilac, so we are considering cleaning it up and selling it and getting something more practical. I purchased the car because of mom/grandma (when she was still alive) because of my taking her places and to the doctors. We used to take her to the movies twice a month and out to lunch a couple times a month. She liked to go shopping and just go driving, and she loved the car. She was unable to drive the last 2 years of her life, and really would get depressed staying home all the time, so I had to have something that was easy for her to get in and out of. My mini van was not easy for her.

Since we are basically down to 2 of us most of the time, a smaller car would be nice and much more economical. Right now I can use Elizabeth's car, since she can't have it in San Francisco, and probably would want an automatic instead of a stick. And while Keith is still living at home, he is busy with school and his friends. He also is looking for work again as his job as a park aid just ended last weekend.

Plus, with Elizabeth being away for college, we are helping her with some of her expenses like food money and a little spending money - so I don't want to be spending all my money on car repairs all the time.

Going home

Eric came down Sat. night, and got a call Sunday morning that he could return home. He left around 4:30 this morning. He said his stuff (what he was able to get) is stored about an hour from his place, so he needs to get it all back.

Labor day weekend

Lakeport park. The water smelled as green as it looked. These ducks are on the water side of the walk-way at Lakeport park, this 'beach' is usually under lots of water.
View of the Soda Baths from Bob & Deb's 'old' house in the Riveria. (they sold and built a new one on Steele Head Lane near the park)
The new creek crossing in Kelseyville.
Our big adventure??? Just south of Madera on hwy. 99, approximately 30 minutes from our house, we had a blow out.

Thursday, September 6, 2007

Maybe a week before he can go home. He got his dresser and some more clothes, can't get anymore. The fire is called the Lick fire.

Tuesday, September 4, 2007

Eric had to evacuate last night due to fire. He was able to go back up today and get more stuff.Fire in Henry Coe State Park.

Elizabeth's room

Elizabeth's apartment in San Francisco, part of the Academy housing. The fireplace is a phony. Elizabeth is standing next to the thermostate. But it will make it cozy. Blinds are to be put on the windows.Elizabeth and her dad. View from the dining table. There are 2 desks against the windows with a divider between then
View from the hall, kitchen is on the left and bunks on the right.
View from kitchen area. Elizabeth has chosen the bottom bunk, and her storage the cabinet you see and a rack with drawers on the other side (which you can't see). There's a view of the 2 desk areas.
I am standing next to her bunk, you can see the kitchen is a full kitchen. You can see her roommate in her room. Additional price for the privacy.
At the end of the hall you see the 'front' door to the room and to the right of the door as you come in is a bathroom. I didn't get a picture 'cause there was a workman in there fixing the lock on the door.

It is a warehouse that has been converted into Academy housing, this is the first semester of students to use it, so everything is new. There are some supplies in kitchen, but they are the 'cheap dorm' kits you buy. We sent some kitchen things with Elizabeth and she decided to keep them. We also got her a 4 cup coffee maker and she took her blender, as she has protien shakes on a daily basis.

Her computer is on the blink right now, so if you want to contact her you will need to call her cell.
