Visits
Visiting our youngest and her husband this weekend. Going to a craft/period fare called the Dickens Fair (my daughter and I) and looking forward to it.
She purchased a little outfit for Winston, and even though he wears it we aren't sure he likes it. He walks and shakes his hind legs as if he is trying to shake it off. Very funny.
We are sharing our time with a "Flat First Grader" our granddaughter sent us, for a school project. We have taken her many places and have many pictures. Here a a few.
Going out to breakfast, after going to yardsales.
Next to grandpa's 1955 Studebaker.
After helping decorate the Christmas tree.
Ready to go.
A rainy day in Yosemite.
She has had other adventures, with pictures!

Remember
we need to remember~~( In the words of Michael W. Smith)~~
Above all powers
Above all kings
Above all nature
And all created things
Above all wisdom
And all the ways of man
You were here
Before the world began
Verse 1
Above all powers
Above all kings
Above all nature
And all created things

Above all kingdoms
Above all thrones
Above all wonders
The world has ever known
Above all wealth
And treasures of the earth
There's no way to measure
What You're worth
CHORUS
Crucified
Laid behind a stone
You lived to die
Rejected and alone
Like a rose
Trampled on the ground
You took the fall
And thought of me
Above all

October
While visiting my sister-in-law,in October, we got to watch the porpoises, wave kite surfers and sunsets from her porch.
We explored a couple pumkin patches, after all Half Moon Bay is know for it's pumkins and pumpkin festival.
Had fun visiting a lighthouse that is now a Hostel. We had lunch with my cousin and her 7 month old baby Sophia, and that was a good time.
When I returned Friday evening, I saw that the new floor was more then half way completed. On Sat. Dan helped some people we know move and was gone most of the day. J. who helped with the flooring came back Sat. morning to finish the flooring and brought along a helper. We had prepaid him over the summer (when he was wasn't working) for his time.
Squirt enjoyed the floor. You can hear the cats claws as they walk across the floor.
Dan finished the baseboards, etc. before we moved the furniture back in. We are thrilled, as you can see from one of the photos, the old flooring was pretty ugly and scared up from the previous owners.
I had some yams growing, so I decorated them with glow in the dark paints and put them outside with the pumpkins for Halloween. I decorated the pumpkins for fall instead of carving. D. is not so into carving since all the kiddos are moved out and on their own, and don't live close by. However, I do have a ceramic pumpkin with face that I put a candle in for the trick-or-treaters.
What I didn't post were the family pictures from our family picnic earlier in the month. Such a fun time to catch up!!!

New floor
I am going to visit my sister-in-law in Half Moon Bay. I look forward to waking and seeing the ocean, and some visiting of course. She had been undergoing treatment for stage 4 breast cancer and her spirits have been good. I am praying for good news when we talk and that the treatments have been working. I leave around 6 in the morning and will be gone until Friday.
While I am gone my husband and a friend from church are going to lay new flooring in the kitchen and dining area. I pray it all goes well, and am anxious to see it when I return. We will have to look for some kind of area rug to put under the dining table and chairs. It is a massive black walnut table over 60 years old. So the hunt will begin. Tonight the room is bare, however my familyroom doesn't have much room in it and I have a freezer in my livingroom. Tomorrow he will move the refrigerator and so before I head to bed I need to clear somethings off the top.

Retreat: Hume Lake
The women at our church go to a christian women's retreat every year. It has always looked like a lot of fun and I have wanted to go. However, it has always fallen on the same weekend as our big family reunion, so you know where I went. This year the retreat was the weekend before the reunion so in spite of the hustle and bustle of the wedding and planning I was able sign up. Needless to say it was an amazing time!!
The view from the dining hall.
The camp is home to over 20,000 young campers and teens during the summer. I loved the way the chapel was set up for the kids.
The first morning we took a shuttle to a place called "Inspiration Point" for breakfast. What a fantastic view. God is a marvelous planner!
The worship band "Deanna Ramsey Band" was amazing. She has a 4 octave voice. The guest speaker was Debbie Alsdorf, and she had a incredible story as well.
It was a wonderful time with other christian women, going to different seminars and doing different activities. (and not cooking) It is so nice to come home feeling refreshed and renewed.

The Wedding!!!!!!!!!!!! Sept. 8, 2012
![]() |
After a year of dating he proposed. When he told us he wanted to marry her, we were not surprised. We would have been surprised if he had not proposed. For her family it was a little different proposal, he called her mother and told her he wanted to marry Liz and then asked her permission. That was a year ago. Their relationship has been a long distance one, her living here and him being 4 hours away. At least we got to see him more often when he came to see her.
(A couple of the pics are out of order)
The Kiss!!!
The wedding was held outside and the reception inside. The high that day got to 96, and standing in the sun is not comfortable. It ended up (after the ceremony) being a nice day. We are so thankful that we did not have the same heat we had in Aug. Over a week of 107-112 weather, over 3 weeks of over 100 degrees ~which is very uncomfortable. We did manage to get some shade for the guests.
Liz did a beautiful job with the table decorations, with some help from all of us we got everything set up in time for the wedding. Our youth group usually meets on Thursday evenings, but took the summer off and start up again on Thursday. So we were able to get the tables set up that evening and set on Friday.
The cake was stunning.
I made the flower girl's dresses and a friend of hers made the sashes. The little one is Vivi, Liz's little sister (3 1/2 yrs.) and the tall one is our granddaughter the grooms niece, Caitlin (6 1/2 yrs.) they both did a great job. Brandon was the ring bearer (9 yrs) Caitlin's brother and our grandson. Keith's brother was the best man and his sister was a bridesmaid. Liz's sister~~her twin~~ was not in the wedding (she was there) because she has a new baby.
Our pastor did the ceremony with his wonderful wife doing the translation from English to Spanish.
The Happy Couple!!!

Little Things...............
The time has come (before today) to make sure all the little things for the wedding get done. Time to get the house in order for family to come and stay. I am looking forward to seeing my daughter and her family. We have not seen the grandchildren since last Thanksgiving and miss them. My daughter we saw at my nieces wedding in June, and were Thankful for that visit.
I ordered my dress last week on Tuesday and it came Wednesday morning. I need to take the shoulder straps up and make a sash/belt for the dress. I would like to find a bracelet to wear that matches my earrings and necklace, so will be going out tomorrow to look for that.
The flower girl dresses area as done as I can do until Tuesday. That is because the bride will be visiting her family over the weekend and will be fitting her little sister. When she comes back I will attach the skirt and put the zippers in both dress.
Meanwhile, I will finish the picture colleges, and other odd and small stuff that needs to get finishes. Ten more days!!!!

Moving along............
Wow, just 2 1/2 weeks until our son gets married and we have a new daughter in the family. It's about time as we have already added 2 sons. Our family is growing.
Yesterday I "finally" found a dress I like for the wedding. I ordered it and it should be here by the 31 of Aug. Today we will go shopping for some of the little things we need. We are getting there. Caitlin's dress is done, except for the zipper and tie (which someone else is doing) and now to work on Vivi's (Liz's little sister). I will do the zippers on both dresses at the same time and sew the sash on (it will be red with some hand beading on it)
We pulled some shelves out of the dining area a couple weeks ago and finally got that wall painted and pictures rehung. The flooring will go in after the wedding. Now to clear the boxes (stuff that was in the cabinets) out and yard sale stuff out of the house so we have more room for family when they get here.
Bought a trundle bed a couple weeks ago and have it in the room our niece is sleeping in. Since we but a bed in, formally my craft room, for her to live in and she has changed her mind about staying here... we are going to leave the trundle in and now all 3 of the extra rooms will have beds in them for guests. It means I have a lot more stuff to get rid of, but that is just the way it is. I would rather have the room for guests and family to visit and stay in comfortably then the stuff that took up the space in those rooms. However, since I am a sewer (2 machines), scarpbooker and collecter of children's stories, some of it remains, I just need to weed out what is important and what isn't. As I go through the children's books (there are so many I do not need) that I got for teaching. Some really cute, but alas, there is a library close by so I can check out books when the grandchildren visit. I do have my classics and first editions. And, I will keep my Bible stories for when I am doing Sunday School.

Liz & Mariah
It is one month (yesterday) until Keith and Liz's wedding. Still lots of little things to do. So far it is going good.
Liz moved in with us 3 weeks ago, when her roommate asked her to leave. Living with us gives her a little more money to spend, as we are not charging her room and board. Keith has taken most of her things (minus what she needs until the wedding and for the wedding) to his place in Ojai.
Mariah flew in on the 2nd of Aug. and will be going back on the 11th of Sept. She will not be staying with us to go to school, instead she will be going to school in Penn. She and Liz enjoy one another's company and that is good as they are close in age so they have many of the same interests.
I have been working on the flower girl dresses, and they will be cute. Today I am taking a break on the dresses, I am doing some shopping for the Bridal Shower (Sat.) instead and some house cleaning. Elizabeth will be down to help me with that and when the day is over we will celebrate her birthday.
Needless to say, we are not enjoying the heat. Sat. it is suppose to be 109, ugh!
